I don't think that is it. MySpace had A LOT of users during its peak. I think it has more to do with the algorithms they use to advertise to the users and the loss of privacy. What I'm really concerned about is Trump's work simply being undone after his second term. As it is, Trump was a godsend and he got in office by sheer dumb luck when you factor in the ridiculous amount of opposition. We got unbelievably lucky with him, but I don't imagine for a second they'll just let that happen again. It's highly likely that while they're planning to get Trump out as soon as possible, others are making plans in the event that they fail to.

If they get one of their people in that chair, I believe the west will fall in short order. We're on the edge of the abyss here and whoever takes office after Trump will either take a step back from the edge, or leap off and take the world with them.

Failure means total catastrophe for us and everyone who comes after us, there is no room for failure, no allowance for defeat, not even retreat. If you really think about it, what we're witnessing is war of another form, we're mostly done with conventional conflicts thanks to the extensive net of politics, alliances and nuclear weapons. This however, this ideological conflict is a product of the cold war and it's a conflict not fought with guns or over territory, but with information and over people. I have never read about any point in history being as ideologically violent as the last 100 years.

Things are starting to look good right now, but looking at stories like the OP, the shit going on in Europe, the increasing radicalisation of the left in the US, hell even here with our government hellbent on selling us out to the chinese reminds me that it could all go very wrong very quick. They have successfully stopped a significant portion of people "Storing food for the coming winter", so to speak.
