Basically to be a dedicated new source of conflict within Twilight's group of friends. Tempest was the former lieutenant in an evil army. She is used to violent, decisive action which is counter to pony society. Being reformed she would be well meaning in her actions, but would take actions that are counter diplomatic and would pit her against the rest of the group.

Tempest would also not be used to friendship, having only delt with superiors and underlings in the evil army. Now she has to transition from the life of villainy, and also deal with being former military. I'd imagine her arc being something along the lines of learning to reintegrate into a peaceful society, and whether or not to stay military, or fully transition to a civilian life.

She was a really damn good villain, perfectly exemplifying the "This is the real world, you must be edgy and tough to survive!" argument the ponies disagreed with and debunked by winning.

The Fizzlepop Berrytwist name was too stupid to be a pony name, however, but it's not that big a deal.

These writers handle redeemed and reformed characters really poorly, but I would LOVE seeing good writers write her.

Despite all the hate it was one of the best movies last year.

Maybe that speaks for the movie or maybe that tell us something about the state of hollywood.

Literally every single problem this show has would be solved by better writers. Even the stupid shit Hasbro does where they force new characters or events into the series just to push a new toy or playset could be handled if you had writers who cared enough about the series to integrate those things properly.

I liked her portrayal, but her character background was a bit lackluster desu. What leads an edgy run-away to throw in with a douchebag who's only actual ability is to get others to do things for him? The Storm King was depicted as a bit of a loose cannon who can't into magic, but somehow he's going to restore her horn with all the Alicorn magic? I get how/why his minions do their thing, but a pony? Meh.
Fuggin' great movie tho.
