If a user understands how tor and VPNs work, and wants to make a constant nuisance of himself, there's very little we can actually do about it besides ban individual IPs and delete posts. The "clean it up" meme is fairly accurate.
This site honestly has one of the most lax moderation policies of any imageboard I'm familiar with. We delete obvious spam, but otherwise we just let people post whatever they want most of the time. We assume that (most of) our users are adults who understand how basic human interaction is supposed to work. Bans are a last resort, and we don't delete anything without reason. However, if a guy we've banned 700 times already shows up in some random thread making blatant shitposts while thumbing his nose at us, then yes, we are probably going to ban that IP and delete the posts unless there's some reason to leave them up. If we don't, it shouldn't be interpreted as endorsement of the behavior; it just means we're choosing to ignore you for the time being.
And yes, as Canada pointed out, mods do reserve the right to arbitrarily ban anyone we feel like banning, and to delete any post for any reason. Here, watch: I just deleted one of your posts from this thread, chosen completely at random. See if you can figure out which one. This isn't a power we invoke very often, but yes, we do reserve it. It's a common-sense policy that I would imagine most sites have. I've always assumed that most users would themselves assume that this is how our moderation works. Bottom line: this site was built by Atlas as a hobby project, and is maintained by the rest of us entirely on a volunteer basis. We don't have an obligation to provide this service. It's why they all dump hot sauce on everything and need to eat hot chip while fit people have serious immune reactions to such levels of spice.

They both just ran immediately afterwards. The smaller shitskin was looking around the corner to make sure no one was around, so there were no witnesses.
So I blacked out, and the next thing I know is a female classmate standing in the classroom doorway, asking me why I'm lying on the floor. Both black/green teas that are the most popular contain caffeine, arabian wine, which I perceive to be a malicious "semetic compound", some sort of sneaky poison that doesn't outright kill but twists something inside, makes one more manipulatable and susceptible to all sorts of "illnesses", dirties up perception with some sort of an imperceivable veil.

I am of two-minds on this.
On one hand, I think having a high-ceiling for what one can say in place like this is important. While I don't actually really care for concepts such as freedoms and for freedom of speech, it make sense to just try to reach such lofty heights in place like this. So even posts that are basically just pure troll or verbal abuse could be reasoned to be allowed to exist here.
At the same time, if someone began to spam blacked threads and such, deleting it would only improve the quality of discussion on the board.
I guess the key-distinction here is whether or not something is either disruptive enough for there to be a need to remove it and/or it has point.
Like, I remember the flat-earth thread in vx. One of the arguements for its removal was that it lead to conflict, and there were also claims taht it was just bait. I didn't agree that it was bait but more importantly, I felt like even if it was bait and even if it did generate conflict, it was limited to one thread on slow side-board to the main one. I didn't think it would been a big deal unless anons just ceased to enage in it. I'm pretty sure Ninjas was part of the crowd that wanted it banned or something, but I can't remember it correctly. If so, I guess it's ironic that the same reasons now pushes the mods to act againt him. But again, I don't remember. Just a feeling I have and my simple computer probably can't load that thread anymore either.
Back at the flat-earth thread, what I didn't mention (I don't think so at least) and I probably figured it out later too; is that I don't take issue with Boom Boom being banned at times for his overall posting on the board. While I on princple think people should be banned due to their abrasive nature on chan, I guess I can see getting tired of dealing someone who revs up emotions whereever they go. I suppose this has the same outcome as shilling. Still, though, I'd try to just ignore it, I think is for the better. But idk.
Point is that, I took issue that the subject matter of flat earth was compromised on the board because the issues modaration had with BB (which could have been completely earned btw), while I posted in good faith.
Having talked about these more abstract principle-reliant ideas I got about this, I wanna move on to more of my subjective experience with Ninjas' posting from afar.
So while I feel the issue is on theoretical level is nuanced; on the practical level, it's not. Like, in the movie night thread. I think the mods(basically Elway all the time it feels like) are doing Ninjas a service when they actually do remove his posts, because the ones I get to read aren't painting him in a sympathetic light. Like, he comes in angry as a bee, ask what manner of insanity took hold of Elway that made him pick "I, Cloudius," for movie night. Tells Elway that this is why mlpol hasn't grown to eclipse 4chan and why movie night isn't as popular as it could be because they are squandering this opportunity presented to the them(the mods).
And that's kinda how he usually is. He either comes in blistering, "Why are you doing this wrong?" or he comes in soundding somehwat smug in his writing saying something like, "Wonder how this could be so bad despite someone telling someone years ago that this would happen but wasn't listen to? Hmmm," idk, just somesort of cryptic accusation about the past.
Like, one that I remember that had basically both of them in them, was during halloween or christmass, and because they hadn't finished the playlist last time, they played it now instead or something, which he took issue with but like why, it really isn't a big deal. I don’t think it’s any secret that pretty much anyone who is willing to post on a far right my little pony image board is maladjusted in some way, with a massive percentage of people being autistic or otherwise on the spectrum, having had little social experience in their lives, and usually being young and immature. But there are a few people with verifiable mental illnesses, some kind of brain disorder, or some other DSM-grade disorders that make them incapable of sustaining human interaction for extended periods of time. These posters are troubling because often times they are indeed engaging in good faith, but they are so incredibly belligerent that they damped the posting experience for everyone else just the same as a troll or bait poster. And they are so dense, so lacking in social skills and self awareness that you can’t really rehabilitate them into being normal posters.
To some extent, you can tolerate it. To some extent, you can curb the worst abuses and hope they learn. And then some times, you really can’t do anything but ban them. In the case of Ninjas I tried tolerating or more limited bans many, many times. We’ve worked on him for years, and I’ve given him second, third, fourth, and fifth chances. What put him over the line was when he promised he’d spam and derail threads as a part of harassing another user and there was nothing we could do to stop him. So I realized that there is no rehabilitating him, the best thing to do is to keep him permanently banned from the site. Elway sometimes feels like responding to Ninjaz because it entertains him. But that’s really all it is and all we can hope it can be. Entertainment.

To some extent, you can tolerate it. To some extent, you can curb the worst abuses and hope they learn. And then some times, you really can’t do anything but ban them. In the case of Ninjas I tried tolerating or more limited bans many, many times. We’ve worked on him for years, and I’ve given him second, third, fourth, and fifth chances. What put him over the line was when he promised he’d spam and derail threads as a part of harassing another user and there was nothing we could do to stop him. So I realized that there is no rehabilitating him, the best thing to do is to keep him permanently banned from the site. Elway sometimes feels like responding to Ninjaz because it entertains him. But that’s really all it is and all we can hope it can be. Entertainment.

Pretty much. But at the same time, while it shows that he’s just shitting everywhere, I prefer to not have shit liked everywhere.
