>>376317Depends on how much bias you want to get
For what? Your lolcow thread? To teach "sharty" users how to integrate to troll better? To do a 24 minute video essay on YouTube about "4Chan's Secret Nazi Brony Pedof*le Cult"?
Fuck you. You can't even into /qa/.
>>376331Give him a chance, Anon. Some people might actually want to join this community, particularly those curious about how it relates to the 2017 April Fool's merge.
>>376332X
Literally no one cares about 2017, why would you pretend?
>376333
????
It's literally the founding of the board. It was the single best weekend in the history of 4chan.
>>376317Here's a summary to answer your question OP
>>376336Yes, and here >we are in 2024. Who in 2024 - who isnt already affiliated with the site - cares about 2017?
>>376339Oldfags from /mlp/ or /pol/ who didn't make it here.
>>376341Your,... 'optimism' is,... 'admirable'. Is there evidence of these alleged wayward oldfags?
>>376356I interact with them on discord and 4chan all the time. /mlpol/ was a huge event; lots of people remember it.
>>376359>trust me brolol
And what suggests they haven't "made it here" as you posit?
>>376360>And what suggests they haven't "made it here" as you posit?Well, the OG /mlpol/ had thousands of posters, and now I find myself making 70% of the threads, so clearly the majority of those posters aren't using /mlpol/ right now.
I really don't care if you believe me or not. I'm just here answering OPs questions.
>>376362It's not a question of belief, what you are suggesting - that 7 years on there are random Mlpol-friemdly oldfags out there who would love to post here but somehow never found out about this place and jus happened to pop up to start asking about lore - seems incongruous and bordering on fanciful.
>>376363>who would love to post here but somehow never found out about this placeIt's more like they didn't find what they were looking for here.
>jus happened to pop up to start asking about lore It happens. It has happened before, and will happen again.
>>376363Hell, I missed the original April Fools Day event entirely because I was busy and had to drop image board participation for a while.
Maybe we could get some success if we make it a bit more like a scavenger hunt and reference the April Fool's Day event and say it never ended.
We're already culturally tied to the wider community, just through chatroom networks, the CyTube hangout room, and the like. We're discoverable by those who look, but most I've talked to who were aware of The mlpol April Fool's event went aware that the concept survived.
What we want are curious people who are familiar with image board culture, with a love of (or at least reasonable respect for) both MLP and Pol content.
If we go for advertisement and "recruiting", we need to manage expectations. This is a more cozy site where it's actually possible to keep up with most content, and our population seems to be more skewed towards systematizers rather than the legions of content producers of other boards.
Things we might want to avoid are a surge of people swinging by for happenings, complaining that we're not a carbon copy of cuckchan's culture, and being culturally overwhelmed. Finding a balance between sustainable growth, people getting busy with IRL stuff and dialing back imageboard participation, and being overwhelmed culturally.
>>376387>make it a bit more like a scavenger huntMake
what like a scavenger hunt? The process of tracking down site lore references? You do realize that the welcome thread has been here for 6 of the 7.5 years, yes?
>>376388>the welcome threadYou could have just said that at the beginning of the thread instead of just being pointlessly hostile.
Also, he was referring to the 'scavenger hunt' in the sense of attracting new users who were interested in April 2017 nostalgia.
>>376392Be grateful when the only charge for a spoonfeeding is added salt
>>376395Whatever, faggot.
OP hasn't even posted back, because he dared to ask a question after showing interest in this site, and all he got in return was shitposting. Idk how people wonder why this site is so slow.
>>376398>Welcome to the Mongolian political horsewhispering forum, also known as /mlpol/. This thread is dedicated to helping out newfags coming to the site with integrating into the local culture. If you have a question about something, or need spoonfed on something, don't be afraid to ask me or any other Anon willing to help. It's literally pinned on the /mlpol/ board and you have to be on the /mlpol/ board to post a thread, and OP is a one post nigger.
OP didn't even look at any threads just shooting the shot blind.
>>376398>because he dared to ask a question after showing interest in this siteYou have cause to think this? It's a very specific assumption
>and all he got in return was shitpostingYou sound almost surprised. Did you think shitposting was for /sp/ only?
>the site is slow cuz shitpostingYou sweet summer child
>>376403>the site is slow cuz shitpostingNo, the site is slow because the 'no fun allowed' prudence permeates certain portions of it to the point that users don't bother anymore, and several posters spend more time complain than they do posting actual content, and content creators leave because there's nopony to view their content.
Tell me, when was the last time you actually made a pony thread here? When was the last time you made any kind of thread? How many pony pics have you even posted in the past week? Think about that.
>>376402That's a fair response, yeah. OP should lurk more.
There are many communities. Some are large. Some are small. Some are well known, some are not well known. Each has their own specific culture.
Telling people that the April Fool's of 2017 has been preserved, for the fun of both the /pol/ and MLP communities would be an oblique way to gauge what they know about chan history. Newer people of a curious disposition will then be roused to learn and explore, possibly to ask questions.
Thinking of the different vibes of chatrooms between the regular stream nights and the online convention streams, there may be reasons we don't want to grow too big too fast. Pointing out this site's existence on the front page of other communities may attract the wrong crowd.
Maybe if they're looking for specific regular content, some "new stuff", and they're not interested in the various book discussions, then we could point them to the movie night thread and have them check that out.
Generals on other boards have some level of evergreen (newness which is of low complexity and is constantly being generated or replenished as threads die) content to them and many of the threads here are of a more serious and thoughtful nature. Effort posts.
Those who skim through massive amounts of content for the sake of consumption, or who expect libraries of fun short form reading constantly updated for them will likely have a negative view of this site because it does not cater to them.
If you have alternate means to try to onboard new users, then please share. If you're going to shoot one idea down, then you should propose something good in return.
>>376392>You could have just said that at the beginning of the thread instead of just being pointlessly hostile.People who don't even know basic imageboard procedures well enough to check is one of the boards was a meta board - or if there was and FAQ page - don't deserve to be spoonfed. Especially in OP's case where his image of choice suggests he's either from one of 4chan's NSFW board, or from Soyjak "White knights for men in tights" Party
>>376406Ongezellig is based though.
>only 1 post by OP
yeah, I think it's clear this faggot just wanted to be spoonfed information and wasn't willing to lurk.
>>376404>Wen was the last time you actualy made a pony thread? Why would I make a furry thread, theres always been plenty.
>... any kind of threadHow long ago was the 4cc?
>How many pony picsYou poor fragile thing. Who knew that posting without ponies was loke depriving you of air. Why havent you said anything before??
>376417
>furry
2/10 bait, made me reply.
