Besides the ugly designs for these background characters, what canon reason would there be for no magic among the unicorns? I assume earth ponies simply have forgotten their magic in the age of industrialism, but if they are riding off of the original canon to build this world, this is impossible. The reason windigos don’t show up can be explained away, but the ponies being separated did not reduce their magic, because they still had to operate the sun and moon before Celestia and Luna arrived.

Perhaps there is a different explanation, but the set up that they only have magic when they are friends is just too low of a hanging fruit for them to not be using here.

It's hard to tell this early on from just a trailer. In general, I don't like trailers because they, in of themselves, have a bland formula so the product seem bland.
We'll simply have to see if it's any good or not.
Don't really like that the ponies look like their toy horse versions of themselves while in the series, though.
And the universe feels more like our universe but with ponies but again, it's too early to tell for me.

Of course, the idea that a unicorn would waltz into earth pony territory and everyone would panic, like both of these things in this setting, are bit strange. Stranger yet, is that this unicorn that did this later in the same trailer informs us that the pegasi are bad news.
But I guess it's a cartoon for kids and I guess it's reminicent to when Zecora walked into ponyville.

what sort of vapid soulless corpo tripe is this?
What motivates the characters, other than "go here to fix this, yay!!"? What struggle does sunny have to face internally? It appears that she's antiracist from the start, and the world will unfold to match her expectations. What makes sunny and izzy the main characters? Anypony could be swapped out to go on this quest, from what I can tell so far from the trailer.

It feels like trolls or countless other recent movies where there's exactly zero substance, but that's covered up by forgettable "funny moments".

And what's with the tech? Why do media execs seem to think smartphones are the only way kids can relate to shows now? The only time I've EVER seen smartphones be used in a fantasy setting in an interesting way is Amphibia. Everywhere else, it's used for gags and stale references to irl social media platforms.

And
>Netflix
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

DISGUSTING

No one will remember this movie in 2 years. No one will stick around its "fandom". People are projecting the magic of FiM into their expectations of this hollow cash-grab. Hate to bear bad news, but it was special for a reason, and that reason ain't reflected in the G5 trailer in ANY way so far.

I mean, you might consider this a rehash of the Three Tribes play episode, which is clearly what this is based off of.
It appears to be that the difference here is that pegasi, unicorns and earth ponies living apart somehow deprives them of their magic, instead of making the world into an icy shithole.
Tbh, I'm more concerned with how bland it looks.

>It appears to be that the difference here is that pegasi, unicorns and earth ponies living apart somehow deprives them of their magic
But, the trailer doesn't make any sense in the first place. It starts with saying that the three horse races used to be united, but no longer are.
<So, something caused the horses to be separated.
Then everyone runs from the unicorn girl because "Unicorn attack".
<Which implies that the unicorns did something to the Earth ponies in recent enough history to make everyone scared as Hell.
Then, the unicorns lost their magic sometime recently.
<Meaning that the magic has nothing to do with the two races being friends
And, even the unicorns are scared of the pegusi.
<Meaning that Pegusi and the remaining ponies had some sort of falling out, before the "Unicorn war"[/i]
So, what the trailer is setting up boils down to:
>Pegusi told the remaining ponies to Fuck off and built some super-advanced society while ignoring the other two races.
>Unicorns went to war with the Earth ponies over who knows what, and scaring the Earth ponies for generations to come while the unicorns were living in a fantasy world.
>Then, sometime after the "Unicorn war" but closer to a couple years before the movie, the Unicorns suddenly lost their magic.
All this implies that friendship has NOTHING to do with magic in this series, so all the races getting back together should contribute towards solving NOTHING. If they're trying to set this up as some sort of "anti-racist" messaging, they failed from the start.

A thing I'm pissed about is the story book mentions when the magic returns how the unicorns and pegasi can feel the magic return and shows them with rainbow glowing horns and wings respectively yet doesn't mention anything about earth ponies. Were already the bottom rung for villains where all the earth pony villains were mostly some dicks who had to learn some humility or bugger off while unicorn villains tried to upend the very fabric of time and reality. Then got the fandom where earth ponies are the bottom tier since you got flying and weather manipulation and limitless magic but no one wants earth ponies to have anything and if you so much as dare mention they may be a bit stronger and be able to grow stuff like crystals and plants quickly they shut you down.

If G5 confirms earth ponies are a useless subrace that has nothing special or redeeming about them then it flies in the face of the whole message. They should want everyone else to be deprived of magic then since in a world with magic they are a lower caste that is absolutely powerless and entirely at the mercy of their magic and more evolved betters.

What I want to know is what the fuck happened to the Alicorns? Did they all die due to lack of magic? Were they sealed away or petrified by a villain or something? There's no way they would have allowed Equestrian society to split apart like this if they were still around somewhere, but they're fucking immortal. Will the show even bother to try and explain where they went?
The idea that Equestria could fall apart and lose its connection to magic is an insult to FIM's happily-ever-after ending. This show's premise implies that Twilight was a colossal fuckup and ruined the kingdom so bad that everybody split up and possibly went through a civil war. I would much rather have G5 exist in its own continuity, at least then they wouldn't be able to rape FIM's lore.

I guess their fur is made of the stuff that tennis balls are covered in. Probably the best way to translate FIM's style into 3D. They can't have smooth skin or it'd look like those crappy SFM models from years back, but actual hair would be hard to pull off and probably look terrible when animated. A short, dense fuzz layer works best visually.
The main thing I dislike are the faces. The half-moon eyes, squat face and chubby cheeks make them look like they have down syndrome. Compare them to the 3D models created by DJthed which do a better job on the faces.

Many here, and on 4chan as well and possibly the entirety of the horse community views that G5 will be a continuation of G4. I ask, where is the evidence that this is so? Other than a single frame or so of the Main 6 as action figures, who is to say that these main 6 isn't just a "wink" to the audience.

I am imagining, and have little doubt, that to anyone familiar with the Digimon series, that G5 will most likely end up in the same way as the Third Season (If you even call it that) of Digimon. To the Unfamiliar, the first season of Digimon was about a bunch of kids getting sent to a digital world, it had monsters, adventure, all sorts of shenanigans. Season 2 continued this adventure but with a whole new cast that carried the torch from the first group. But when it came down to the third season, everyone was hopeful that it too would carry on, but instead took one big dump on it. How? By claiming that the the first two seasons was actually in this new world nothing more than a TV show, trying to sell a card game. But then somehow too the digital world and the monsters in it are real? What? The only thing to its credit would be a darker story but it was its own thing and really other than a reference in the beginning of the series, separated itself from any part of the previous two.

With MLP, we all speculate what could of happened, or what might of happened to make all the races separate, where the alicorns went, and why the whole world isn't in ice thanks to the windigo's but in truth, it could be simply that it is its own world and Twilight and all her friends are nothing more than a bed time story in this new world. Who knows, perhaps it is due to this bed time story that who ever the main character is, sets off on their adventure to unite the rest of the races.

But the most collar yanking moment comes from knowing very well how the creators and Hasbro have went into the far left territory, from their leaked emails to project veritas leaking all about their CRT agenda they are pushing. Between blacking up AJ in the priminary drafts for the next movie and everything else, this is going to be one heap of a mess.

Many "Praise" Zootopia, and it isn't a surprise that entire movie is a far left anti-racism film about white vs blacks. And despite what the critics say, it isn't subtle about it. I look forward to the next gen being no different.

Off the bat though, what I don't like about the new generation, other than the Gawd aweful 3d (Because FLASH is CGI you dumbass pricks)is like g2, they modernized everything and made it more like our own reality, with cell phones and metropolis with billboards and marketing everywhere, even in parody yeah, marketing everywhere. With G2 this killed off a ton of the adventure aspect of MLP very quickly and even more so the fantasy and magic aspect. It was simply a slice of life young girl issues sort of ordeal. So In a world of modern technology, how the hell are they going to even pull off an adventure/fantasy story? Something seems a bit off.

But one thing that is funny as hell, next Monday is when we all will find out. And funnier still, unlike G4 which we knew was getting worse and worse as we drifted from Season 7. There were so many leaks, even leaks of the movie, before post processing, and yet, not a single leak on G5.... I guess it's that bad.

I mean, this is Hasbro: it's made to sell horse figurines. It could quite possibly go down that route.
Remember, they assraped Twilight's character in season 3 because they wanted to sell Alicorn toys.

Well they did have that whole episode with "What does it really mean to be a princess? I feel useless." And just like all the times prior, every time the writers set up for the story to be led in one direction, some other writers fucks it all up just to then erase the previous writers set up and they try to set up themselves their own arcs. This happened in every season since the beginning.

I don't feel G5 will be any different than what G4 was in that regards. I bet by the second season, everything in the movie will be retconed and pure blatant propaganda.

My biggest issue with G5 is not only the writers and the current climate of Hasbro's political bullshit, but the artstyle. I'm so fucking over CGI, it's so old and so easy to do, the artistry and talent that comes with doing traditional 2D animation is worthy of praise whenever it's done regardless of quality. The 2017 FiM movie has a lot of flaws with it's script, but holy cow, it looks amazing even with the few instances of CG objects. A lot of care was put in to every frame, it's a shame it didn't make more money and actually was the reason FiM was ended.
Now we get this CGI bullshit like every other kids series.

Here's the plot: The three pony races are separated because of..."REASONS" that are never explained, the movie is about how "Racism is bad guyz, stop being so racist and become more multicultural", and the story is about the main girl preventing a race war because of the stupid-ass unicorn walking into an Earth-pony town. I do not blame the 2017 Movie on the downfall of MLP. I personally pointed out time and again, here and on 4chan the actual reasons for the downfall. With embeding of companies all subcontracted, to financial strain on Hasbro itself due to too much ambition to expand, and at all the wrong times. From Toys R Us going bankrupt, to them losing the Disney contract, and EQG never selling well enough that it is the Atari ET game of Hasbro. And I mean that very literally. Then went from a 25% profit margin to only 3% in just a few years and that is a HUGE thing to lose.

If you wish to go into specifics, just look me up in the archive. I practically wrote a book with how much shit I dropped on Hasbro's notorious affairs. It is why as an previous investor, I stopped investing in them.

The thing about the new movie and generation is that it feels as generic as the Dr Suss remake of The Lorax. It is highly forgettable and not that good either.

I admit, I need to rewatch the movie as I am sure that I have missed quite a bit. The only reference to G4 is in the beginning and through the cutie mark symbol on the front of a journal, other than that, there is very little to show that there is a connection from this new movie to the last generation.

The world building sucks, as it doesn't take any time to explain anything in the world, or how things came to be, it just is. I feel in the same regard that ZooTopia took a short play to explain "Everyone was savage as predators but isn't anymore" Here is the new movie trying to do the same when the children play with the characters from G4 as dolls. Now the world is devoid of all magic, and apparently flying is "magic" and we never actually in any regard see actual magic, nor other creatures of myth; such as dragons or manticores; instead all we get is a modern world with modern city skylines and lots of smartphone use. There is very little to the imagination other than like the Lorax, an over zealous corporation trying to control the people for reason that everyone is paranoid in this new world, as to what caused this to happen, or even if it is the same equestria, who knows.

The character development in this also seems a bit flat, as the world hasn't been well developed, the motivations for the characters are rather flat, eg. This guy is the good hero guy everyone loves, this guy is the racist villian trying to protect his kind, this gal just wants to all be friends; there is no development, realizations, or resolve, not like how the 2017 movie made. The only revelation there was was not character development it was that there was a 3rd mcGuffin. And when the character discovers that everyone should stop fighting, Deus Ex Princess. It was completely undeserved.

The film was very plain Jane in that it seemed to strongly appeal to kids in the same way the Dr Suss Lorax did, but the difference is that the Lora tried to show the effects of over consumption. In MLP, there was no high stakes of being separated, so you don't have magic, and what is the actual downside? What is at stake if it doesn't get restored? A goop gun? With the 2017 movie we saw violence, ponies being turned into stone, and a mad king even if short, that has ruined several other towns, and sent a kingdom beneath the sea just to hide from him.

There wasn't any real threat, what if the Sheriff caught the Unicorn? Heck the Queen of the Pegasus caught the Earth Pone and Unicorn and they make a joke how it doesn't feel like an dungeon. With out any actual downside to your mcGuffin if it isn't found, it makes everything else unravel and then it just becomes generic and flat.

This is why I rank the movie only 4 of 10

Overslept by an hour, but even a few minutes tell me the voice-acting is very, very bland. Every character in FiM is instantly recognizable by voice alone, but this just seems like the actors are just saying the lines without going into character. Also, the dialogue is way too fast, there's no time between lines. It's like everything is playing at 1.25x speed.

All in all it was a good movie. Not the best, but good and worth a watch.
A shame they moved away from the lore and universe of G4. So there was much I would like to have been different and kept true to the G4 universe. But it could have been million times worse. I was going into this with the mindset that it would be bad so it could be that I am to lenient on the changes and breaks with G4 since I didn't have high expectation.
We'll probably get a better view of how it will pan out once the episodes are released and if it will be as bad as feared or if there is hope for good wholesome fun (and R34 art but it could be argued that is on the same side of the coin).

I don't think it sucked.

But I am not a neural source, either. Teared up every time G4 was mentioned or there was a callback. Or anytime ponies were sad, I guess. I care about poners in a way I don't care about people, so that shit got me. I think I liked it better than the G4 movie, but admittedly, that may be because there were no expectations going into this one. There were years of character development and expectations for the FiM movie. They didn't really have anything to fuck up with this one.

Izzy is a deus ex machina. Sprout was a childish villain. Fine. If it was just some bitch crying about crystals, I'd probably tell her to go fuck herself and hang on to them, but I imagine the way I feel about ponies is the way normalfags are supposed to feel about other people. And I would very probably give in to a sad pony. So fine. They should have died, though. I feel like they wasted the death on Sunny's dad, when it could have been way more powerful to spend it on the one who brought magic back to Equestria.

Fine/10. I'm sure they will completely fucking destroy it with the show.

Does itreally count as deus ex machina if it comes at the beginning of the stoy though? I think the literary term for that is "herald".

Yeah, I fond him pretty lame, although I guess that was the point. He wasn't exactly a very serious or threatening villain. Just a loser with a big ego.

She's a lot like Pinkie Pie, although not a direct rip off. She's got the silliness and randomness and pathological friendliness to her.
Zipp was a surprisingly good character, although I guess my expectations were lowered to rock bottom by the "Tumblr haircut". She's this generation's raspy-voiced tomboy, although she's not a Rainbow Dash by any means. It feels like she got a bit too much spotlight somehow though.
Pipp is an e-thot and kind of a cunt to boot, but I guess that's what she's supposed to be. She's appealing in her own way at times, but can also be annoying.
Still not sure what I think of Sunny. I'm not sure if she's relatable, or just archetypical, but she fits as a protagonist. She's definitely not Season 2 Twilight, but she's not horrible.
Hitch I found to be a decent character. He fit the role of the responsible straight-man among the gaggle of crazy girls. Despite him being the "handsome/cool guy", I found him to be likable instead of inciting hatred.

This is me just trying to give the characters the benefit of the doubt.

I feel as if I should get a ID or something for the word walls and in depth dives I do, But I do go by Bakers.

As the other anon said, nothing. But I only partially agree, as long as Hasbro can hide the books from investors and satisfy the wokeness they are investing in, and somehow still manage to keep their heads above the water, nothing will happen, to MLP that is. The fandom is a whole other story.

G4 have really brought forth something together that was quite remarkable and even when the show was going on for 10 years, and beginning to be influenced by the woke assholes in the companies (plural for a reason) there was an underlining glue that kept the whole show going and the people watching for all this time. The whole spirit that started with the first episode was still very much alive even in the end, even if it was a bit dimmer. The characters, the atmosphere, there was something there.

But does G5 hit any of the marks? Well if I had to judge based on the movie itself, not really. There is so much lacking, as I pointed out prior. The story structure, the world building, the character development is very lacking. G2 (Not the toys) was based on, for its time, the modern world and it was very slice of life centric on the whole teen/tween age. With the world being set in a very modernized world, I can see this being where it is heading, but the magic from the prior generation, I just can't see how it will play out.

Pony Life is horrendous in many regards and a hosh posh of modern and what ever else they can toss in and it kills a lot what ever soul there was. For the movie, it isn't that they killed the soul, but they decided to do their own thing, and missed what made the soul. It could of been worse. And because of it, the fandom probably will fracture, some will be curious to how the series will try to remendy it and how it evolves, the other half will lose interest.

I say the jury is still out on G5, but if the series is anything like the movie, Celestia help us. And if the series is going to be in 3d animation, that is going to really be jarring. I made this point many times, I haven't come up with a good name for the concept but essentially this.

Detail is lost the further you go from an image into 3d. It is strange, but the most detail for any medium, is the human eye, you see everything and every detail when you stand outside and take in the view. When you take a photograph, that picture tries to capture every bit of detail, but something will always seem off, or photograph-estic that the human eye will always seem to capture more of that detail. Try to then draw that what you see, and you try as you might, but something will always lack. Now try to animate the scene, and the level of work to do so in that same detail will be over bearing and detail will be sacrificed. Now you go from a 2d drawing and back into a 3d sculpture, but it is animated and you will find the whole world is nearly devoid of any real detail other than the main characters and now you wish to make a series? Yeah, it is going to look bad.

The most detail that you see in this new movies is the characters and small scenes like close ups of the grass, but the back ground is devoid, or the kitchen in the beginning, but when everything else is barren or replaced with a 2d image, then you can see what I mean, there is a lot of cheating and lack of detail. It doesn't take a human face to have something fall into the uncanny valley. Even scenes and backgrounds can become uncanny for nothing is truly ever devoid of anything, even outerspace. It is why I feel with 3d, it will always be uncomfortable because of it feeling unnatural, as too plain or devoid of any detail.

There really isn't any telling what will the series turn out, I just hope I am wrong and surprised for all the right reasons.

I didn't realize how ridiculous that was until I saw pic related. In hindsight, it was pretty stupid.
I think the correct term is Mary Sue: a character who somehow has all of the answers, for no reason other than that they are written to. Deus Ex Machina is when an outside force that was relevant to the story up until then emerges and solves the problem instead of the characters (Ex, Zeus descending from heaven to singlehandedly end a war at the end of a play.

Its just going to be handwaved off because she's a rip off of pinkie doing pinkie things and you just accept it. A lot of scenes with her is going to be full cartoon logic pinkie2.0 like when she made the decoy in a blink of an eye. It's not bad, but it is just copycatting off FIM instead of doing something new having one pony be the special exception with toon logic. Even the way that she switched into rap out of the blue in her song is ripping off pinkie and I immediately thought of this.

But there's a complication that arises with G5 that these people don't realize. The new content compete for attention in cyperspace. I have a lukewarm intrest in G5 for four reasons, the first of them is that I'm intrested in G4. I like the characters of G4. I like Twilight and the company. I don't feel like there's a limit to things to discuss and content to create for that fandom nor do I feel any of it has grown stale and that's not the case for most anons either I can garantee. If that was the case, then they wouldn't have stayed for G5 in the first place. I don't want to discuss another media. G5 is not the same as G4. They might be both called mlp but mlp is about Twilight Sparkle and her friends in my mind and in set in Ponyville.

But whatever, there's nothing onecan do and perhaps it won't be that bad. I'll try to remaind optemistic about it all. I mean they can't ban people from posting G4 stuff anyway becuase then those guys will just move elsewhere.

My other three reservations for G5 are:
>The setting.
It seems to urbanized and moderns from what I have seen. Where do the mane 5 live? Is it in a concrete block city or in a small town with hayroofs? Seems like they have a bunch more technology and stuff. Do the tribes have a monorachs or politicians ruling their nations? With G4 it felt more like the characters lived in a fantasy world while, from my limited view of G5, it seems more like they live in our world but as poners. Of course, I could be wrong about this as stated.
>Characters seem less distinct.
Just by the design alone, you could tell something about the personalities of the mane 6. Just take their manes.
Twilight's is short and practical. It's clear that she takes care of her mane but only to the point that's looks civilized. Her mane lacks the flaire Rarity has in her stylized on. RD's mane is wild and spikey. It's clear taht she doesn't comb her mane. Neither does AJ but her hat tells moer about her than her mane. Pinkie's mane tells you of her chaotic nature and Fluttershy hides behind her mane due to shyness.
With the G5 character desgins I'm not sure what they're suppose to tell you about them.
>The animation.
It's sad that 2D is being replaced with 3D all the time nowdays. I'm not sure what it is but I strongly prefer 2D over 3D. A movie doesn't have to be shit because itäs 3D for me but it doesn't do it any favours either.

Yeah, do they have the internet and tv in G5? Do they have phones? Because in G4 Yes, I know they have technology above the middle-ages, like Photo Finish's camra. Twilight had to write letters and send them via dragon fire.

I don't know. It's funny because while the mecha in the end was poor taste in my mind, it doesn't bother me in the same way. It still sort something fantastical and fantasy element to it even if it's more sci-fi now. It still wouldn't fit for fim imo, but if I had to choose between mlp set in today's concrete grey rectangular buildings with fast food and ponies with phones or ponies in space; I'd prefer ponies in space.

Trips of truth.
There are really good moments in the movie that evoked strong feelings. But I am torn about the movie, going back and forth loving it and feel a bit disanointed. It has really good moments but there is also some bad moments I wish were done better. I still like it, I just wish they had used more time on the script especially the songs, also some moment should have been held longer and not rushed though. But all in all I still think it is a good movie worth watching.

I agree, I think the more "modern" setting is a huge turn off. It makes the show seem more shallow and inevitably it'll feel dated in a decade as technology and trends continue to march on. The high fantasy setting of FIM will never feel dated, because it isn't just "our world but with ponies".

>motor vehicles (Maretime Bay)
>heavy industry, factories, assembly robots (Maretime Bay)
>Movies (Maretime Bay)

>References to Warheads (Izzy's Song)
Since magic had disappeared from the world, it's safe to say that all of the tech in the setting is nonmagical, so G5 ponies are definitely in a post-industrial era of tech. The mention of Warheads also implies there having been a war in the past that involve long-range ballistic missiles, possibly even post-nuclear.

Here is my basic assessment of G5.

I don't think it's bad necessarily, but it's definitely not good. And that's basically my issue with it. It neither inspires nor offends me; it's just a fairly generic children's cartoon designed to sell plastic toys. I don't have any strong feelings about it one way or the other.

What made FiM stand out for me is that I came into it expecting a generic children's cartoon, but instead discovered a heartwarming, cleverly written series that featured likable characters doing interesting things in an interesting world. Lauren Faust was hired to make a vapid toy commercial, and created something with legitimate artistic and entertainment value instead; it was a pleasant surprise.

I could go into detail about all the things I liked or didn't like about the G5 designs or the story or the characters, but why bother? The characters are cute and funny and more or less likable, if not particularly memorable. Children will probably enjoy this, and the merchandise will probably sell. That means that G5 is a success, because that is all it was designed to do. That was all G4 was ever supposed to do as well; everything else it achieved was just a bonus. There is no reason to try to analyze this cartoon seriously from an adult perspective, because it was not designed to be viewed or taken seriously by adults. For me, there is no reason to hate it, but there is no reason to keep watching it either. For all practical purposes, the ride ends here.

That said, I'm a little surprised by how well it seems to be received on /mlp/ so far; I was expecting them to just grumble about it for awhile, and then dismiss it and go back to G4 posting. It seems like some people are actually getting into it.

My theory is that most of the G5 posters so far probably fall into one of the following categories:

1. The Copium Addict
aka the Hasdrone. This is a person who has become so emotionally invested in "the ride" that he can't imagine life without it. Even if every synapse of his brain is screaming at him that he hates G5 and doesn't want to watch anymore of it, he won't listen. He will love G5, because he needs to love it.

2. Der Coomer
This unfortunate soul is utterly consumed by his dysfunctional sexual attraction to cartoon ponies. He doesn't just fap to ponies, his entire life revolves around fapping to ponies. He doesn't care whether or not G5 is any good, just like he never cared whether or not G4 was any good. As long as there are a couple of cute, fappable characters in the lineup, he will keep watching and posting.

3. The Contrarian Shitposter
This man is a legend among legends. He is single-handedly responsible for every Nyx and Glimmer thread that has ever existed. He knows literally nothing about MLP; he simply takes the most unpopular opinions on the board and adopts them as his viewpoint. He has been on the ride for its entirety without ever seeing a single episode of G4, and will do the same with G5.

4. The Guy Who Just Liked it for Whatever Reason
An otherwise okay guy, whose tastes are otherwise unobjectionable, who for some inexplicable reason just really liked this movie. There are bound to at least be a few of these. No accounting for taste I guess.

I wrote that post when I was almost asleep so it may not be 100% coherent or meaningful. I guess to me, "the ride" would be the active portion of the fandom centered around new episodes and whatnot. The part of the fandom centered around G4 is likely to be less and less in the foreground as time moves forward, since G5 is now the current iteration of MLP; thus, G4 is no longer really the focus of "the ride." I don't think the core G4 fanbase is going to go anywhere really, but the bulk of merchandise is going to be G5 from now on, and most of the fanart and other non-official goods being produced will probably start moving in that direction as well. My guess is that conventions and other types of official fan gatherings are going to center heavily on G5 from now on since that's what Hasbro will be actively promoting. Unless G5 completely flops, there is likely to be a contingent of fans actively supporting G5, so G5 will be the most visible part of the fandom going forward. Thus, people like myself and I'm guessing a lot of people here, who liked G4 but aren't particularly interested in what G5 is offering so far, will become less relevant to the broader fandom. At conventions, the G4 people will be the old guys sitting at some dusty table in the corner talking about Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle, while all the spergy zoomers are crowded around the main stage sperging about Sunny and Izzy and Skippy and Zippy and whoever the fuck else. This tends to happen with most long-running fandoms; the "main" part of the fandom moves on to the newer and shinier stuff, and the originalfags just sort of fade into the background and focus on the classics while ignoring the spergy teenagers.

I guess what I was trying to get at in my post is that fandoms overall tend to attract a lot of hyper-extroverted people with low attention spans, who depend on fandoms as their sole source of dopamine and social engagement, and unfortunately these kinds of people tend to be the dominant force in any fandom. They may be interested in the thing that the fandom originally centered around, but the focus for them is more social; the active component of engaging with the fandom itself. In the case of MLP, now that the G4 series is over, the G4 part of the fandom no longer has the natural momentum of visibility and crowd hype to keep it going; the only people left in the G4 camp are the people who genuinely care about the characters and setting of G4 enough to keep it going, and don't necessarily need new episodes or new content in order to enjoy what's been made already. The high-energy, low-attention-span people usually don't have the patience or the self-reliance to simply rewatch old episodes and enjoy them for what they are, so they will probably direct their energy and attention into G5 even if it is a lower-quality show.

These kinds of people tend to move around between fandoms a lot anyway; the people who were hyper-annoying bronies in 2011 had probably moved on to being hyper-annoying Undertale fans by 2016 and became hyper-annoying Steven Universe fans after that. If G5 takes off, they'll be hyper-annoying G5 fans. Apart from these guys, there also tend to be large sections of any fandom who focus entirely on sexualizing whatever the fandom revolves around, and it basically just becomes porn for them. These guys also tend to jump around from fandom to fandom a lot, seeing as how the difference between wanking to Pinkie Pie and wanking to Izzy Moonbow is probably not that significant.

Overall, while G4 will probably continue to have an active fan community, that community is going to become less relevant to the overall MLP fandom, assuming the overall fandom continues to exist. At conventions and so forth the G4 stuff will be slowly but surely crowded out by G5, for the same reason that VHS was slowly crowded out by DVD. It's just how these things tend to work.

You're probably right about this:
>I guess what I was trying to get at in my post is that fandoms overall tend to attract a lot of hyper-extroverted people with low attention spans, who depend on fandoms as their sole source of dopamine and social engagement, and unfortunately these kinds of people tend to be the dominant force in any fandom. They may be interested in the thing that the fandom originally centered around, but the focus for them is more social; the active component of engaging with the fandom itself.
Though, while I might share your fear that G5 will take over more space at the same time I also feel that it might not be able to that extent. Places dedicated to G4 are probably bound to pop up.

Otherwise, why I asked is because it's just that I have heard that since the begining. Well, not exactly like you said it but more in the way of these people. Like back when it was unsure if mlp would continue after season 3, the same discussion about wheather the fandom would continue came up. And like how I heard from people that were like, "When the final season is over, I'll quit." I just don't get the absolutism of some of these people. It's like they're actually ashamed of watching this show and view it the same way they view cigarets or work, as it's something they are forced to engage with on a regular basis when the truth is that it's a leisure activity.
Like I haven't seen season 8 and 9 and a just a few episodes of 7. It's not because I think that the show went bad, or well it was at the time but now I'd change my opinion on that matter, but it just didn't happened. Though with the friendship school in season 8 makes me pause, I still intend to watch the episodes that I have left.
I'd just don't get it. They're all acting like, "Now, I'm too old to watch this." They can literally watch and engage with pony when they want and not do it when they want.
I rewatched the episodes and saw some new ones during the latest few days and I had a blast.

I feel like this ties into how I didn't refer to myself as a brony back in the day but I also wasn't too embarrassed to tell people about my intrest. I showed it off to friends and stuff and talk about it openly in public. But I never identify as a brony because while I love this sweet little show, I am myself first and foremost.
I guess I shouldn't be dismissive towards others but I don't get it.
Sorry about the rambling. I couldn't string my words better right now.

Have watch the first 11 min of the movie now. My two fist cents are:
>The animation intro
In another time, that with better detail and new characters would have been G5.
>The setting
It's not so far explained how we went from the Equestria we know of to the Equestria of today. Seems like an unlikely transistion. Even the worldbuilding in itself alone seems to have hard time to make it function, however, it would be wrong of me to make that judgement 11 min in so I'll wait with that.
The other thing is just the irony. Even if the creators aren't lefties, they certainly aren't nazies either yet the portyal of Sunny as political activist for an stigmatized ideology doesn't work for the left since they are part of the establishment whereas, *cough* some others aren't. Seriously imagine that Sunny is actually a nazi and so was her father and then see the first eleven mins again through those glasses. It makes a lot of sense doesn't it. The oponies around them might actually be a bit too forgiving around them.

So up next, a really contrived action sequence happens next were sunny ends up as the test subject to some anti- pegasi and unicorn device during it's presentation. The only response to why it's so absurdly contrived is that it's a cartoon I guess but it's actually really ridiculous.

Anyway, Izzy was a fun character and her antics while they fled from Sunny's home were fun.

So Sprout's song is dull as fuck. I can't place of which song it's a clear ripoff yet but they don't even hide the inspiration for it. It's also way too meta. There's no subtlety whatsoever. I assume cause the people behind it can't into how we think about things. It' kinda funny because, they always prove themselves to think in black and white so if we ever were to write a story with them as characters we would probably give them too much credit.

Yeah, so next time don't make appeals to majority counter arguements when I talk about why race obviously exists and that our differences have ramifications.

You mean end of production because in the movie, it was made in the very start of the movie. Not that it made sense, so the word tacked on is fitting description but Sunny's dad does read her a bedtime story about Twilight going to ponyville.

So I watch to the point where I started watching last time so in that regard I have seenthe whole moive now. It's sort strange to me that Sprout's mom, who was built up as an antagnoist if not the main one was exchanged for her son and how she later come off as resonable while he wasn't.
>"Was I a good sherif mom?"
>"Hey, look a..." I don't remember what it was.
It doesn't make sense. She was the one who pushed him in that direction as early as his childhood but now she's judging him for doing exactly as she always taught him?

There're things to like with this moive though. Like Izzy and Hitch are pretty funny characters and set up and payoffs happen. I kinda agree that it was kinda middle-of-the-road in quality. The centeral conflict was completely unaunced. Do with that waht you will but there's never a place n the movie where Sunny's ideals are really challanged. Discovering that they can't restore her magic is obviously not arguement for why the three trbes can't get along. Not that I'm saying it has to have that in it's story, just saying there's none of that in it.

The later arc feels kind a rushed. I didn't really get a feel for how the unicorn lives compared to the pegasi and the earth ponies. I mean they can't just slugishly exist among the woods, can they?
Also, things just transpire with a higher pace.

Anyway, I have been thinking of a what-could-have-been thread for G5. That's fine, right? Or would taht count as posting a similar thread to an already existing thread?
This thread anyway would just be a discussion thread on the subject of what peoiple might have wanted to see in a G5. Like, you know, kinda low-key spitballing ideas on how a new mlp sries would look like. Who would the main characters be? Where would it be set? Would it be in the future of Equestria, the past, or in seperate universe? Would it be a series with episodes that are completely their own things, their own thing but with chronology from previous adventures, or a story told in an episodic format?

Another thing that hit me is that this is one of those movies where logic and or perhaps you perfer the logistics of scens don't add up.
It makes me wonder if I waste too mcuh time on such things in my stories. For example, "How did Pipp, who was hanging upside down in cables escape imprisionment but not her mom?"
As a writer ignoring these kinds of questions saves you time to think about stuff that are more central to the characters and the plot. Should writers start to ignore problems like these in your stories?

I'm asking. I don't actually know because at times I wonder how much it actually matters. I like it when things makes sense or there's an effort towards making things make sense but I only realized afterwards that Pipp couldn't resonably escaped that situation afterwards. Idk.

i don't think so, but i don't write so take that how you will, if anything id say you could try the following as an experiment:
write normally, and when you arrive at one of those problems, mark it as such in your text(with perhaps a seldom used character like this "Ꟈ" one so you can search them later easily) and then continue writing, and when you arrive at a point you consider to be good(end of chapter/story, next story beat ×2, whenever it feels right, etc etc...), you go back and fix those problems
try writing one or two stories so and see if and how that process woks and how you can improve upon it even from just what comes naturally through having to apply this methodology, just try not to becomes one of those writers that become high on their own supply and believe that they are THE hottest shit ever for they have cracked the code that has let them reinvent the wheel and blah blah blah... and quite possibly end up degrading and even getting addicted to certain things like subverting for subversion's sake, ok?

I just saw the movie, to my surprise I actually like it. NOTHING was ever going to be good enough to replace G4, but I can not fault the movie for that.
I would rather keep G4 in a special place in my heart as I can just enjoy G5 for what it is for the probably short time it takes for G6 to be born.

> It doesn't make sense. She was the one who pushed him in that direction as early as his childhood but now she's judging him for doing exactly as she always taught him?
Phyllis was a buisnesspony that was exploiting the fear of everypony trying to make money. Sprout later thanks Phyllis that it is all because of her that "This defense factory is going on offense, and it is all because of your love and encouragement". But the end result is the same: Commie/Emperor Sprout has taken over Capitalist Phyllis 's factory. It's Sprout's combination of insecurity and thinking that he is doing the right thing that lead straight into the "Angry Mob" song.
> Now is NOT the time to be complacent, we should do something.
> Something is lurking Something is near Something is feeling stranger, stranger Stirring up discord Whipping up fear Whispering softly: "Danger, danger!"
> Sharpen your senses Sharpen your tongues Sharpen your moral indignation. What are we ?
Crowd : We're an angry mob.
Then somewhat later every background pony has signed the "Official Sprout Act".
I swear just add some Twitter icons on that "Angry Mob" one and you could not be more on the nose.

>She was the one who pushed him in that direction as early as his childhood but now she's judging him for doing exactly as she always taught him?
Phyllis was only just as paranoid and xenophobic as all of the other ponies of her generation, even if she profited off of selling phony anti-magic devices. She may have taught him to be afraid of unicorns and pegasi, but neither she, nor any of the other earth ponies of Maretime Bay, wanted any kind of violence to come of it. The Earth ponies were just afraid of Pegasi and Unicorns attacking them, and none of them actually had any will to fight. Sprout took it a step further and decided that they should mount an offensive war, which they agreed to because they thought they had to.

Phyllis clearly loved her son and wanted him to do well, so she encouraged him unconditionally and supported his war machine financially with her company, but by the middle of the movie she clearly realized that nursing his bloated ego and narcissistic delusions of grandeur may have not actually been healthy for his development or the wellbeing of her town. Fact if the matter was that Sprout was a bad Sheriff, because he overstepped his authority (he declared himself Emperor after one day) and neglected his responsibility to keep people safe and instead marched them to war and made them assemble his stupid robot. Telling him he was a good sheriff after that would have been a lie, and would not have helped him grow as a person. Phyllis could have told him to his face that he fucked up big time, but she didn't want to because she loved him, so she just changed the subject to avoid his obvious question which was really a desperate plea for undeserved praise.

>I mean they can't just slugishly exist among the woods, can they?
Actually, I think that's exactly what they would do. The Unicorns were clearly a broken people. They once would have prided themselves in their powers and their capabilities to wield magic freely, and probably built most of their culture around it. Once they lost their magic, their society could have easily fallen to ruin, lacking what made them special and spending their days wallowing in their own broken misery. I also like how they were so superstitious, since it makes sense for a people so rooted in magic to practice mysticism, and it could have intensified in response to the loss of their powers and their broken/paranoid state.
Izzy in a sense represented what unicorns likely used to be: fun, creative, colorful, curious and friendly. She was also ostracized for being uppity (her "luminance was too bright") while the rest of them were too busy feeling sorry for themselves, which is why she had no friends and sought out new ones in Maretime Bay.

If you think of it, all of the mane cast were pretty friendless in their homes.

Sunny had no friends because she was raised by her weirdo father who made her into a re-unification activist. Her ambitions cost her the chance to make friends with other earth ponies, and by the time the movie started Hitch was the only friend she had left.

Zipp and Pipp were both royalty, adored as celebrities in their country, but they were living a lie.
Zipp knew that the status quo was crappy, but her royal obligations to uphold appearance and maintain the lie was both limiting in her potential as a leader to solve her people's problem, and also to be the pony she wanted to be.
Pipp was deep in the celebrity business because of her talent for being pompous and her vanity, and had thousands of internet followers, but none of them were truly her friends because they all turned on her the moment she was exposed, leaving her with only her family for support. It's honestly a decent lesson to teach to young girls these days, and I hope they're competent enough to expand on it in the show.

Your description of what happens is pretty much how I remember it too and what I think was the movie makers intentions. It just that it doesn't flow well. It would have flowed better if the character that was portayed as extreme and kinda callous (Doesn't stop her presentation when Sunny is being bombarded by gak.) would be the main antagonist in the end and have her redeem herself at the end.
It's really a 180 turn for her when she starts to question her son and it happens about half-way through and we only get that many scenes on that matter from there. It just doesn't feel genuine comming form that character. "Unicorns are evil and they'll fry your brains with a zap but we should only defend ourself, not attack?" It feels arbitary. It's not a worthless character progression but it's clumsy.
That's why I'm not a fan of her judging him in the end because she really isn't any better. She taught him and many other ponies in their city that the other types of poners are dangerous and evil.
So I see what you mean, I just think it feels both a bit clumsily done in execution (or well, I don't really buy it) and seems like an uneccessary detour considering she could have filled this antagonist role herself.

A few things in this post is not what they established in the movie nor was it hinted at. It's just you projecting things that fills in the gaps. This isn't a bad headcanon or anything but it isn't what happened in the movie.

I guess, I'm talking about the logistics of the scene again but it's unlikely that unicorn children would sit depressed in a spot like this. They shouldn't even know what they have lost. It's also hard to imagine that a society can function with these kinds of citizens.
I guess it's not a bad premise for a fantasy story's location but I would like just a bit more explaination for it. Otherwise, I'm forced into filling the gap myself.

>and had thousands of internet followers, but none of them were truly her friends because they all turned on her the moment she was exposed, leaving her with only her family for support. Yes, I thought of that too. Though, it could do with some polish. For example, I have a suspicion that, sadly, that most people won't pick up on that and especially not children. This story isn't really subtle in it's messaging but in this case it's so in the background of everything that's going on that even I am not sure if the writers even intended for that or if that was just a fortunate biproduct of the scene.

This is probably because neither Sprout nor Phyllis were meant to be actual evil villains, but just a couple misguided ponies with semi-crappy personalities. They'll probably appear later in the show, possibly as minor antagonists for social issues, but probably not as actual villains. Sprout may even be redeemed later after coming to realize that his narcissism and inferiority complex was just bad for him (think of Vegeta at the end of DBZ).
>It's really a 180 turn for her when she starts to question her son and it happens about half-way through and we only get that many scenes on that matter from there. It just doesn't feel genuine comming form that character.
Well, the movie really only spans over a couple of days. Phyllis put the badge on Sprout and told him that he's the de facto sheriff, fulfilling Sprout's dream and encouraging him to work to protect the town in Hitch's absence. Sprout, however, let the authority go to his head (pic related) and declared himself freaking emperor the very next day. With a literal overnight transformation like that, any good parent would have made a 180 turn and slapped some sense into their child, but Phyllis stayed mostly-silent and enabled Sprout's delusions until the very end, which is probably her greatest flaw as a character because she had the power to stop him at any moment by being more stern with him and denying him encouragement.
>She taught him and many other ponies in their city that the other types of poners are dangerous and evil.
It's strongly implied that this was the attitude that Earth ponies had been harboring for centuries. Phyllis only slightly exacerbated the paranoia because her company profited off of it.
Maretime Bay has a feeling of early Cold War era paranoia. Phyllis's company reminds me of the kikes who sold people "nuclear bomb shelters" by digging them glorified basements beneath their houses.
>"Unicorns are evil and they'll fry your brains with a zap
Actually, considering implications of past wars, there's a possibility that Unicorns once really did use their magic to commit attrocities in the distant past. Sombra was a thing. Pre-reformation Glimmer was a thing. I wonder if the show will delve into the darker history of the times when the tribes were separated a bit more.
>I guess, I'm talking about the logistics of the scene again but it's unlikely that unicorn children would sit depressed in a spot like this.
The unicorn children inherited the attitudes of their parents because that's what children do. If you've ever met a child from a miserable shithole like Yemen or Haiti, you'd see the parallels.
One of the unicorn foals seemed to bounce with giddy excitement for a few moments when the mane cast claimed they had a way to bring back magic, before his father gave him a stern look.
>They shouldn't even know what they have lost.
Unicorns are innately magical beings: their connection to magic is instinctive. For them, losing it is like losing both your hands. Surely even a unicorn foal would feel like something is missing in their life.
The Pegasi lost their ability to fly, and while they weren't as gloomy as the unicorns, they used their sensationalist celebrity monarchs and media consoomerism as a coping mechanism. The royals keeping up the lie that all was right in the world, when it really wasn't, as Zipp knew.

This is not established anywhere in the movie. This is your interpretation.
>declared himself freaking emperor the very next day.
That's also one of those logistic things. Who can he even declare himself emperor like this in the first place? It's very handwaved and I have to assume a bunch of stuff that I don't really assume about the situation.
>It's strongly implied that this was the attitude that Earth ponies had been harboring for centuries.
It is? I guess, it could be I actually don't remember anything like that. Could you provide me with an example of what you mean?
>If you've ever met a child from a miserable shithole like Yemen or Haiti, you'd see the parallels.
Idk. Maybe. I have never meet such a child, however, I don't really feel that these locations are equivalent. In Bridlewood, or whatever it's called, everyone is depressed but crime isn't rampant. I assume that children don't play on the streets in areas like this because those streets aren't safe while the same cannot be said about Bridlewood's streets.

>The centeral conflict was completely unaunced. Do with that waht you will but there's never a place n the movie where Sunny's ideals are really challanged.
This seems to be a hallmark of all modern leftist political commentary. The writers fundementally so not understand the motivations and philosophy behind conservative or traditional ideologies, so they can't help but write one-dimensional villains. They don't know how to write a xenophobic character that isn't just pure evil, or a traditionalist that has good reason to hold onto traditions. Every ideological conflict is just "correct belief" versus "blatantly wrong strawman". The main character is always perfectly correct right from the beginning, their system of thought is never challanged or forced to face conundrums, the rest of the world bends to them.
MLP:FIM by comparison was much more nuanced, at least before the last couple seasons. There are conflicts with no right answer, and characters frequently meet halfway or learn to tolerate and appreciate each other's differences. Look at Winter Wrap Up for example, a Ponyville tradition where unicorn magic is not allowed. Is this event derided as a racist and exclusionary tradition which must be changed or abolished? No, Twilight changes HERSELF to honor the intention of the event, and finds a place where she can be useful without magic. That sort of conclusion would never happen with these new writers.
And look at Applejack, a traditionally-minded country girl with a rural upbringing. Instead of being depicted as a dumb, backwards inbred hick like most media these days, she's intelligent and stable, and the rest of the cast value her input. In fact the entire Apple Family are depicted as wise and friendly.
Starlight Glimmer starts off as a literal commie manipulator who preaches equality while ruining everyone's lives. In her villain finale she keeps trying to revise history with a time spell and every attempt is shown to make the world a shithole dystopia, until she finally discovers the errors of her ways and renounces her former ideology. It's actually kinda crazy how the show-writers got away with a making a villain straight out of Harrison Burgeron.
FIM was a goddamn miracle of a show and I don't expect to see its like for a long time.

Well, you could consider that the protagonists risked/sacrificed in challenging the status quo.
Consider the quote at the beginning of the movie where Hitch was recounting all of of the exceptions and bailouts he'd made for Sunny in the past and ended with "I'm the only friend you have left in this town. You wouldn't want to lose me too..." which you could consider was actually quite ironic for her because Sunny's did everything she did on the basis of "friendship", even though her behavior alienated her from her hometown and left her almost-friendless, and continued to give Hitch headaches by puttng his friendship with her at odds with his duty to uphold the law. In the name of friendship, she risked losing the one friend she had.
Zipp witnessed a similar situation, since she wanted to change the status quo in her country because it was all based on a ridiculous lie, but a step in doing so resulted in her mother in prison, her sister humiliated, and herself wanted by the police, when none of that would have happened if she had just decided to continue the lie.

You do realize that this makes Sunny out to be a spoiled brat, and turns Hitch into a beta simp, right? Haven't seen the movie, so someone can correct me on if I'm understanding this incorrectly. Why is Hitch still friends with Sunny if she's caused him nothing but problems, to the point that it's effecting his job? Why does he never tell her to fuck off because he's tired of cleaning up Sunny's messes? Why is he even associating with her when there's a clear reason why she's ostracized from the rest of society? In fact, why does she never change her attitude to deal with the fact that he IS practically friendless? There is no logical reason why this is happening.

>Hitch into a beta simp, right?
Kinda. The start shows him as the respected beloved law enforcement of the community. (Not that it means much.)
He goes off to bring back and arrest Sunny and take down the diabolical Unicorn. Leaving it to deputy and mommy problem fuck up Sprout.
Hitch... does his job and takes it seriously akin to actual NPC characters in video games. Who else would be right on the nose of the town cultist wack job by using the cover and actually being friends.
So the town shuns Sunny because cultist (you know those door to door religious that won't take no for an answer to spout about their great religion they are trying to sell you).
Hitch is trying to deconvert the cultist because the town knows the whole story it's a small fucking place.
The cultist Sunny needs relics of an ancient civilization by attempting to contact the eldritch horrors of the other poner races.
Spoiler: She succeeds.
Traveling to their relms of influence.
Ultimately he -----fails-----.
His deputy almost succeeds in stopping the cultists plot incidentally. Yet is defeated by the combined eldritch forces and his minorly mentally changed mother.
The cultist unleashes the beast of pandora's box and ascends to a higher state of being, bringing about the actual potential horrors to be as Unicorns and Pegasi regain their magic to lord over them.
And everyone lives happily ever after.
Oh and Hitch keeps his job.

Dude, just watch the thing before you start saying your opinion of it. It's not too terrible to endure for 90 minutes.

He does. The unicorn incident was the last straw. After that he spends a third of the movie tracking her down to arrest her.
>turns Hitch into a beta simp, right?
Idk about this. A simp usually simps for someone for the sole virtue of them having a vagina. Hitch expressed no romantic interest, and seemed to just genuinely be friends with her, and saw through her severe autism to see that she's actually not a bad person.
>why does she never change her attitude to deal with the fact that she IS practically friendless?
Probably a combination of stubbornness, genuine belief in what she was doing, and wanting to fulfill the dreams of her deceased father.

>There is no logical reason why this is happening.
The only logical reason to Hitch's behavior is friendship. Hitch helped Sunny in the past because they had been friends since childhood, best friends even. When you're good friends with somebody, you help them out, even if they're screw-ups or weirdos.
Hitch, however, does not just go about simping through the whole movie, because his responsibilities as the Sherrif. He accounts to how he'd bailed her out in the past, but the incident at the factory was the most disruptive stunt she'd done yet, so he put his hoof down there and warned her that that was the last straw.

As for Sunny, she kept doing what she did because that's what she believed in. I'm not saying that it was well-executed, but following a cause even if it makes you look bad and/or causes you to be ostracized for years is a type of heroism that isn't really appreciated enough in the media. Anybody can do the right thing if they have support and it makes them look good, but looking like a weirdo and a troublemaker for years to do what you believe is right takes a certain kind of courage. Conceptually, it's an okay trait for the protagonist.

Anyway, I just brought up that scene because it represented the time where the protagonist's ideals were challeged, or would have been challenging from her perspective.

No that's just that there's an obstacle in her path, it has nothing to do with her worldview being challenged. She doesn't go, "Maybe I'm wrong unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies can't get along after all. We're too different..." or something.
These two things aren't the same thing but I do agree with you that she is couragous in doing what she believes even if it means risking her friendship with Hitch but that's not the same thing as having her worldview challenged.

This. All in my face right now!
The first paragraph is exactly what I was trying to communicate. but you did it so well and ariculate.
I never like these characters that are suppose to represent me when I'm not memeing. They just don't know us, at all.
Cool examples of Fim being based btw.

I'm not like these characters except for when I'm memeing.

I guess you're right. Her worldview wasn't really challenged that much. Then again, it's a pretty straightforward worldview.
If you think about it, since magic disappeared from the world, Earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi were barely any different at all except for how they looked. Actual challenges to the "ponies should get along" narrative would probably emerge after the reappearance of magic starts to change the lifestyles of unicorns and pegasi. If they have two braincells to run together, they'll address those challenges later in the show.

Pipp doesn't have a blue light filter on her phone, so she stays up late browsing on MyStable when she should be sleeping. This makes her very grumpy.

G5 is a cypher where multilayered meaning is embedded extracting that meaning is a certain challenge. By mortal means intentional and accidental the combined product is a compressed message as well.
The challenge is finding the necessary pattern in time.
Nevermind just me rambling while tired.

I think Pipp was disappointing, but that's mostly because she didn't really get to do very muc that contributed to the plot. I stil like her design.

Do you have DemolitionD's Ergo Proxy video backed up? It was deleted from his YT channel for some reason, and he didn't have any backups of that video. I've been searching for it for years.

>It doesn't make sense. She was the one who pushed him in that direction as early as his childhood but now she's judging him for doing exactly as she always taught him?
I concur. She looks like a villain who didn't get any comeuppance for what she did. Not only does the plot not slap her back down to reality for her negative actions, the movie itself doesn't portray her actions in raising and going along with the little tyrant as a bad thing.

It reminds me of how the ever-increasing demographic of single mothers, who routinely raise children who are statistically more likely to be criminal and more likely to be lacking in many critically important areas of being a responsible adult, are never blamed for their eroding and subversion of civilization.

Nah, I think it did. Even from the beginning she seemed to coddle him in such a way that was unhealthy for his development.

But there's no pushback from others in the movie in the same way there was for every other character who served as an antagonist, as far as I recall.
