I never was expecting anything good, so something terrible is better than mediocre. If it was merely mediocre you would see some fans liking it despite its obnoxious style and (likely) messaging. However if it's a garbage fire then the Hasbronies who were saying "don't knock it until you try it" will have egg on their face. Maybe people will finally realize that quality has been on a downward trajectory for quite some time.

Unfortunately all comments on anything my little pony on YouTube are off thanks to COPPA, to keep children from interacting with adults as the official excuse. Now companies can excuse themselves from hearing criticism of children’s entertainment, especially these guys that hate hearing it so much they made an episode where the main characters shit on their critics.

It's not the same. The Star Wars prequels had the problem where there was too much exposition and focus on politics which is what George Lucas wanted. The Disney sequels don't really pay attention to any of the universe outside what's immediately on screen but are satisfied with Star Wars being a cheap action flick. The problems with the Disney sequels are totally unrelated with the (arguably fewer) problems that the prequels had. Also they're separated by decades.

On the other hand, Pony Life is a logical extension of the flanderization of MLP. The characterization of the show was going sideways in the later seasons and the original principles that made the show great forgotten. You can point to Pony Life and say "this didn't happen out of the blue, it was a steady degradation that has existed since at least the fifth season of FiM."

I can only hope G5 will be good and if not we'll just have to hold onto the good times in G4 and Filly Funtastia until that Pony Preservation Project comes to fruition and we can create our own episodes.

I might be off on a few of the details, but it seems pretty obvious what the plan is. They're trying to phase out the horsefucker fandom entirely, while presenting a 'new' and 'more relatable' series that younger viewers can latch onto (and buy toys for). Then, when all the oldfags are gone, they can proceed to G5.

No, they are definitely trying to maintain 'their target audience' cuz toy sales, but they're reducing even the maintained characters to caricatures of their previous identity. The intro says it all. They're not representations of elements of harmony/friendship anymore, they're "sweet, magic, fast, posh, fun (for Aj?), cute (for ponk?)" ponies. It really is MLP GO.

With all these nigger riots taking place and the nig nog bing bogs setting up autonomous zones, why not just take over Hasbro's corporate center in Providence RI? We probably could burn the whole thing down and no one would bat an eye because how liberal the town is first of all, and just blame it on BLM and it is a free pass with out any consequences what so ever. It be like the Boston tea party, we all just dress as black instead of Indians.

First, we are a board of peace and it will make Atlas cry if we get on the news for that. Second, it wouldn't really accomplish anything. At most Hasbro would just see it as the niggers chimping out and think they need to post more BLM and go ahead with making AJ black like the writers wanted.

The easiest way to beat them is to make a product that's better then what they offer. When we get to the state where we can create our own horse show and get more viewers then them, then they will realise their mistake. Sure the hasdrones and parents who just throw their kids in front of a TV as if it's a babysitter will keep watching or buying the toys associated with it, but when that number starts to shrink and with how the internet now allows people to host their own shows and get funding for them without needing the big producers, they will see how irrelevant they are becoming unless they can offer a better product.

Board of peace is just a meme, a bad one.
Second, I am being facetious and a bit jaded with all the BS.

Third, what the hell is stopping anyone from doing what you just said? The whole fandom is full of people who are artists, musicians, and creative minds and yet, no one ever tries to organize something together? Time, and money are always the biggest issues but as they say, don't quit your day job. But I fear if someone did do anything, it be as bad as that 4chan bullshit that is nothing but garbage anyway, sorry I mean rubbish.

But organizing and creating a whole new show in these days even if possible to create it, would be near impossible to market it, or even publish it. CN plays nothing but Teen Titans GO! and you can see that everyone else is trying to follow that formula hence the topic at hand which is Pony Life, and Disney, yeah, but NO THANK YOU. And they are no better in the dumb shit that they do. As for other places like Netflix or Youtube, that may be your only shot to creating something.

I seriously have though of ways to organize and get into animation, I already make video games for a living, though independently, already published a few. Always wanted to get into animation and thought of many ways to do it too.

Though to be honest it would take an immense effort and if you want to really hurt Hasbro, I say to hit them where it counts, right in the wallet. Hasbro is a publicly traded company and if you can cause the investors to see allot of Hasbro's products as a piece of shit, they will drop out. Get enough to drop and Hasbro will start trying something new, or seek someone that knows how too. Investors are also the ones with stock, and with stock comes voting power so you can kick the CEO off the board and get someone in there that actually cares.

So in short, it best to befriend investors and get rid of the corporate scrooge, hitting them in their own pocket books.

why do you even want to hurt hasbro tho?
Its not like the existence of shitty numlp hurts you in any ways, that's "them vs us" mentality and it will get us nowhere.
No one is producing a new fandom-crafted mlp because in order to do that you would have to be very careful regarding copyright and also because "sadly" most capable artists from the fandom already make enough money out of comissions and thus have no reason to spend that much time and effort into something that might not bear fruit at all.

Animation is expensive, it takes a whole team to make but a single episode of any given show.
A comic is way more personal, you only need one artist and maybe one writer to make one, it might not kill hasbro, it might not even get you any money at all, but considering /mlpol/'s userbase, a comic is a much more realistic goal.

Afterall, you really cant shit bigger than the asshole.

Why do I want to hurt Hasbro? The same reason I want to hurt Facebook, Twitter, Tubler, Reddit, Google/Youtube, Disney (ABC, NatGeo, Marvel, ESPN, BET, and so much more)

It is a monopoly of garbage with out anyone what so ever who has the balls or ovaries big enough to take a stand and say, "NO!, None of that shit!" because everyone is too pussy enough to stand against the very vocal few, and I mean very few.

Comics? Hah. Treading on copyrights, double hah. If you go back to what Nigel said, >>273124 he said. "When we get to the state where we can create our own horse show..." I would think by this state, it would be very much our own not only in that we are the creators, but we own all rights because it is by our own creation from the ground up, we own all rights because everything is original. And then who is to stop us?

If I recall correctly, it takes about 4 hours to animate about 30's of animation and that is only for one character, and speaking on behalf of 3D animation. I do NOT refer to 3D animation as CGI as Flash animation IS CGI. I am a professional 3D artist, Animator, and Game Developer, and I am not yanking your chain. I been working on a Flower Corvette for about 6 months now, because I am working on a freaking big project and details really matter. But given say any other single character and I could have something out in three months tops, and for a short, get a hand full of people and you might pull off something.

To be Continued...

Quite some time back I have thought of going from Game Development into Animated shorts. I thought about gathering enough people that would create shorts of say 5 to 15 minutes long and create a small block of cartoons, in the same manner that Cartoon Network did back in the mid to late 90's with Cartoon Cartoon. Cartoon Cartoon introduced allot of cartoon shorts such as 2 stupid dogs, Johnny Bravo, M is for Monkey and so many more. This was a golden era in animation. I wanted to do something similar and was thinking on youtube of creating a channel which a live stream would air every Saturday morning, like the days of old. It was a charming little idea, but of course, finding anyone dedicated to trying something like that is a pain in the arse.

Today, there is allot of wishy washy on rules, regulations, and terms of services which makes any project like this as if walking in a mine field. So having people get a cut on ad revenue as first anticipated might not be so effective, and may take even more to get sponsors up. It is possible though, I did press kits for many other projects of mine, but yeah, nothing is a walk in the park.

Still it is not far fetched or out of reach, just need dedication, talent, and passionate people.

Yeah, picture related as below. Not to derail, but yeah. I do mostly Hard Surface modeling, though also animation, soft surface, programming and design.

In making films or shorts, Machinima works really well to speed up the pipe line. This is using a game's engine to do things like lighting, back ground animations and so on. And for anyone here, Both Unity and Unreal are free engines to get any project started. Coupled with Blender, also free, you have allot of the tools you need to get started. If you wish to do a more 2d style, you can do that with 3d tools like Beastars did, or go full 2d which again, there are free tools for that as well.

And light scripting for animation, yeah you can do that easily for things like cars, birds, even tree rustling idol movements if working in a game engine. And there are so many tutorials online for complete noobies, all you need is time and dedication as well as inspiration to create.

That's been an idea floating around a while and a good one. The big first step is actually establishing the studio which I'd prefer not done at all rather than done poorly (someone who gets some investment but not enough, or who burns out will just hinder a second attempt). Or you could go a more amateur route like Murdoch Murdoch which has improved in quality over time, but I don't know their methods specifically.

>>273127
>The whole fandom is full of people who are artists, musicians, and creative minds and yet, no one ever tries to organize something together?
Entrepreneurship is a necessary skill too and although it seems so simple it's surprisingly rare. I'm working on that aspect of myself but a big–likely unprofitable–project like this isn't something I can do for several years at least.
>As for other places like Netflix or Youtube, that may be your only shot to creating something.
My strategy would be to set up a channel on Youtube, upload varied content until you're one of the bigger animation channels, then get the more talented animators to join you in setting up a new site platform dedicated to animation. You can then have a clearer money-making strategy while still uploading clips to Youtube (for publicity), while also having greater freedom.
>I seriously have though of ways to organize and get into animation, I already make video games for a living, though independently, already published a few. Always wanted to get into animation and thought of many ways to do it too.
Getting related skills is always a good idea; quality spritemaking is surprisingly in demand for 2D games. Animation skills are easily transferrable to certain vidya genres.
>Hasbro is a publicly traded company and if you can cause the investors to see allot of Hasbro's products as a piece of shit, they will drop out.
We had a thread about that and it never went anywhere. You'd have to first have a large megaphone, and then you have to show that Hasbro's products in general (not just MLP) have reduced customer willingness to pay. Investors (except for venture capitalists) don't look at the products themselves anyway, they look at financial statements.

>>273131
>Its not like the existence of shitty numlp hurts you in any ways, that's "them vs us" mentality and it will get us nowhere.
That's a lefty mentality. "Why are you upset about X people, X people don't hurt you so just leave them alone."

As for webcomics, you'd have to research into readership of webcomics on the internet. The mid-late 2000's/early 2010's were the golden years for webcomics and I'm willing to bet a much smaller audience reads them. Animation videos on Youtube can get millions of views if they're quality and get lucky with the algorithm.

First of all, thank you, corvettes are very underrated.

Second. Entrepreneurship is very much one skill that I been working on since 2015 when I established my own studio. I make games, do allot of IC work, things of that sort. My studio is very small but till recently, was just a side job, now, with new projects it has become full time so, that is exciting.

With so many people now trapped at home, bored shitless, most likely too out of a job thanks to this Corona Virus, people want something to do. So what better time than to collaborate on something? The goal shouldn't be some 4 hour oscar gold type film, again thinking of 5 to 15 min shorts. Something that would get everyone's toes wet, but should have the expectation of not being a new day job as if any revenue made would be there of sponsorship and or ad revenue. If others catch on, well then we expand. But if it fails, then there is only the time that was for a 5 min short which would be a weeks worth of effort on a professional scale. Ouch, but not a total loss. (I am being very generous here)

Like anyone that started on the bottom, Steve Jobs didn't make his millions overnight, he had to first build a computer in his garage with only the time, money, and close friends he had to try and do it. What do you really have to lose?

Indeed, 2020 is a new decade and with all the bull shit that is happening in the world, the last thing anyone wants to watch when trapped like a rat in a cage is more shit. Who knows, maybe something will finally come to fruition. Maybe we will set a new trend and standard for quality vs the garbage which Hasbro and the like has been pumping out.

But if anything does come of it, first standard of any project we do is no CaliArts shit. Despite Gravity Falls and Gumball being somewhat decent, it still is lazy of a style and when everything blends in, how do you ever stand out? That is one of the reasons why I really hate Pony Life on top of it being utter spaz garbage, and here I thought TTG was bad.

I wonder if there is a word for the emotion of Anger, Cringe, and Disgust at the same time. Like Melancholy is happy and sad, because PL is that emotion.

>That's a lefty mentality
It might be, but it aint wrong.
Hasbro can do whatever they want with any of their shows and we really cant say shit about it, they own the show after all.
We can dislike their stuff all we want but that will hardly affect them.

It would be wiser to ignore them assuming they hurt no one and use that energy to create a new, better show, than to direct our efforts at trying to destroy that giant enterprise.
The fandom does not needs hasbro, hasbro needs the fandom.

I was expecting this reply.
Well mr corvette, sometimes monopolies of shit clog the mainstream (Like the sims for example) when that happens it takes a few years for some independent developer to stand up and create something better (for this example, Paralives) this usually results in either the independent developer becoming famous (like chucklefish games after Starbound) get some moderate fame (Sukaban game after va11-ha11a) or simply fail to be never heard of again.
In any ways, any effort to try and make something better than whatever the mainstream is trying to feed us should be encouraged.
I wish you luck Mr.Corvette

Monopolies, nothing against big corporations, but you have to have a ballance, and monopolies break that ballance. And in the world of "Current year", it is so mind numbing that it is heart breaking how monopolies pedal garbage as if it were gold, and everyone eats it up regaurdless because there seriously is nothing better.

Then on top of it, to keep the zombies entertained, they bring back the older things everyone has grown up with, since it pulls on the nostalgia strings so that they can make a quick buck. Like all of Disney's live action remakes. There is no originality any more because everyone conforms to the same garbage as with CaliArts, or they recycle old beloved favorites and fill it with shit.

There really isn't anything that is original any more or anything that stands out, and that is sad. In recent times MLP 4G was like a rare diamond along with one of my most praised animated short series, over the garden wall. And the sad thing is, that when these came out, I thought they would be trends setters and bring back a new animation golden age, sadly they didn't. But for those that adore them, perhaps they will inspire new pioneers that will cut a new path through the clutter and show new audience something special.

FIM inspired me to make a game about a magic-using non-human female character.
Many years of game redesigns, changing tastes, and personal growth later I eventually decided it should be about a sword-swinging magic-using space-faring female character.

Hmm. Idea's are a dime a dozen for sure but it seems like you have some issues with settling down and actually starting. When I first started out, I just started with short ideas and went with it. Where ever they took me is what ever came of it. Game Jams are really great to get out creative juices like this, and it doesn't need to be games, just any thing you do, JAM IT!

So what a game jam is, like Ludem Dare, is that you are given a concept such as, "Plays backwards, Light and Dark" etc. When given you theme, you have only 24 hours to then make it. Mine was a side scroller that litterally played backwards that the lights would go out on you ever now and then. From this concept, I then made a mobile game of a labrinth that you play forward to find a key, then the lights go out and you then have to play it backwards in the dark. In otherwords, keep doing! You never know what you will eventually create but the most important thing is to keep creating. Thinking about what you want to create will never get anything made. Sometimes you have to just roll with it and when you do, then you weed out what works and what doesn't so you always present your best foot foward.
