This is a sketch process for my last drawing. Next time I make one I'll do a much more detailed summary with some notes to help out anyone who wants to draw. The hardest part is the face so take time on that. Practice different angles and USE CONSTRUCTION LINES. Don't even begin fleshing out a drawing that has improper proportions. Also use show references if you are starting out or using a new facial expression/pose. If you aren't using a tablet make your construction lines very lightly and draw very darkly by using more pressure once you are satisfied with the composition. Also, an eraser is your best friend. Don't draw one line and just accept it and continue the rest of your drawing with it. If it sucks, erase it and draw it over and over until it works.

2nd pic from a previous post is really helpful for body proportions. Start off with a large head circle and 2 overlapping (think venn diagram) smaller circles for the body. This will help guide you if you are lost. I find it very helpful to draw a 3 dimensional X on the head sphere to guide where facial features are located.

3rd pic is very good for joint orientation when making original poses.

what >>3146 is really helpfull. Don't skim in the contruction lines. It's generaly speaking very hard to just "draw" on a blank page. The construction is what helps you with that. If anyone here thinking about seriously improving their anatomy, do your own studies into it. Draw a poner and think long and hard about what is wrong and why. Use references from link >>2540. Those are all the official ones we use on /mlp/ drawing improvment.

I also suggest studying on how horse anatomy works in general. You'll realize a lot about the body structure and have a better idea on how to create different poses so it doesn't look broken!

I'm still learning myself, I'll try to join you here when time allows!

o yeah, I've read a full 100+ page book on drawing animal anatomy. had horses,cats,dogs,cows and pigs in it I believe. Everything compared to a human, bone for bone, muscle for muscle, in all angles including details on how joints work.

It's a real eye opener to see how those stuff work though.

Yes. Also, if you used the two circle (venn diagram) body construction line method, you didn't overlap them enough because the torso looks a smidge too long. Also a little chunky. The legs, namely the front legs, do not taper upwards enough. They should be about 30% narrower at the top, and even a little bit wider at the hooves. The background front leg is also floating off the ground and should be lower
