If Mossad were involved, it would be to cause a war that they would intend the west to fight for them. All this does is cause political instability across the region that would result in more refugees migrating to Europe.

I can't really answer your question in terms of who/when/how/if the war would be, but I do think it's a destabilizing event.

NATO and the West have sandnigger allies in the region. BRICS and Russia would want them for the same reasons, especially one with as much widespread region as Iran, as well as the history of military cooperation. Iran is one of the few relevant countries in the region that doesn't buy US weapons, so I think BRICS wants them for that reason. Or at least I assume that's what they're trying to for.
That being said, what does this have to do with the president's death?
